One of the most important consequences of the transformation of the classical conceptions of human beings in the modern period is that it has changed the expectations and hopes of human beings regarding themselves.
This has affected the hierarchy of questions in the field of ethics, as in many other fields, and has necessitated the posing of new questions. In this context, especially in the last half century, the justification for human morality has been questioned and some movements have begun to consider morality as a purely conscientious state.
As long as morality is understood as a phenomenon entirely related to the conscience of the individual, the relationship between individuals or the outward aspect of morality must be dealt with as a problem of politics rather than morality. In this case, as long as the situations to be evaluated within the scope of immorality fall within the field of law, a sanction can be mentioned. However, since this result is essentially an extension or inevitable consequence of a certain conception of man and society, it requires to be addressed in terms of different conceptions of man and society. In this book, you will find the texts of the conferences held in the "Talks on Moral Sanction" series organized within the Islamic Moral Thought Project in 2015 in order to question the relationship between morality and sanction.
